60th Anniversary Thanksgiving and Dinner Celebration

July 7, 2017

SENTUL, KUALA LUMPUR - The 3rd Kuala Lumpur Company celebrated its 60th Anniversary Thanksgiving at the HGH Convention Centre, on 7th July 2017. The theme for the anniversary is “Remembering the past, Embracing the present, Envisioning the Future.

The event saw the sale of 60 table to match the Company’s the anniversary celebrations (and also to because it was the minimum number of tables required by the dinner venue). It was also a fundraising event, with additional proceeds going back to support Company activities.

The event also saw the return of old Boys from the pioneer batch as well as old Boys who have gone through the ranks over the years. Most of the past Captains of Company were present for the event, proving to be a meaningful night for many reminiscing old times and catching up on each other’s lives. Family members and friends of the Company form other BB companies, churches, and other organisations were also present to join the celebrations.

Long time 3rd KL officer, Mr Lawrence Tay (who is now captain of 1st Seremban Company) was the energetic emcee for the evening. As with any ceremonial BB event, the programme began with a fanfare followed by the marching in of the 3rd KL Colours which was received by Rev Victor Vethamani, the Company’s chaplain. Mr Lawrence Tay then lead praise and worship together with all the Boys and officers of the Company.

Three massive “candles” were made to represent each each subtheme, lit after each major segment throughout the 8-course dinner. Speeches were given by Mr Kok Yeng Voon, 60th Anniversary Organising Chairman; Mr Leo Leslie Armstrong, Immediate Past President of YMCA Kuala Lumpur (sponsoring authority of 3rd Kuala Lumpur Company); and its current captain Mr Voon Zhen Yi.

There were many performances were lined up for the evening, including several dance items by the Junior and Senior Section, a singing item, and of the band. Appreciation plaques were given to past captains for their service to the Company over the years.

The night ended with a song finale, Our Faith in God Alone, sung by the entire Company and organising committee members.

The 3rd KL Boys’ Brigade is thankful to all its supporters, particularly its sponsoring authority, YMCA Kuala Lumpur for their support throughout the years and is hopeful for many more good years to come.
